Facebook likes to keep things exciting and make changes to their layout. Many of us are creatures of habit so when they change the layout on Facebook, the masses go crazy. Sadly, this is not really an exaggeration!
The most recent change Facebook has made is the new timeline layout for Facebook pages. Facebook personal profiles incorporated the new timeline layout a couple months prior to Facebook pages, so many are familiar with the basics.
There are many benefits to the new timeline cover. Primarily it gives your page the ability to add branding and messaging to your Facebook page.
There are some guidelines to keep in mind while you are determining what to put in your timeline cover photo. Facebook does not allow the graphic to include information that is otherwise found in the About section on the Facebook page. For example, websites, phone numbers and email addresses are not allowed. Additionally, it is a graphic image, so email optin boxes and links will not work.

Items we suggest you include are:
- Photo of products or image that represents your business
Other ideas you may want to add to your timeline cover are testimonials or a collage of pictures.
The previous page profile picture (avatar) has changed as well. This now displays in the bottom left corner of your timeline photo and is 180 x 180 pixels in size. We suggest keeping this clean and simple, such as a company logo or photo of the page owner.
